NOTE FROM DEBRA:  “One Voice” is a song that Jeff Silverman and I wrote that was inspired by the state of the world in 2020. Not only were we dealing with a global pandemic, but we were also seeing injustices played out regularly on our nightly newscasts. At that point it sometimes seemed that this would all be very difficult to get through. But, there are so many positive things to look forward to and together we all truly can make a difference.

2022 Note: This song seems even more appropriate to me today as we witness the war in Ukraine. Hearing from captured soldiers that did not want to fight against the Ukrainian people that were just like them … this is all too heartbreaking and will hopefully resolve soon.

2023 Note: … sadly and we continue with not only the war in Ukraine but now also extreme hostilities in the Middle East …

Heartbroken Cry

____________

During this time also, so many of our friends were financially affected when live performances were put on hold and studio recording sessions were cancelled. All of the outside musicians on “One Voice” were recorded remotely through Jeff’s Virtual Studio Networks. This gave everyone an opportunity to do what they do best from the comfort and safety of their own home studios.

“Once Voice” is a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of all our wonderful collaborators. As the song says, “Listen with your heart, and your eyes might see…” We all do have a choice and we all speak louder in once voice. We hope you enjoy listening!

Verse 1:
Be a little understanding
Show a little heart
Have some faith that all of us
Are not so far apart
The stars you see shine on me
And my sun warms your face
But, my dreams are not enough
To give us all some grace

Chorus:
We all must stop, this hatred and division
Listen with your heart, and your eyes might see
We all have a choice
It’s a question of decision
Truth speaks louder, louder in one voice

Verse 2:
Be fair and forgiving
Try to see the truth
Between what’s real and what’s suspicion
Try to see the proof
Open up your heart to me
And have a little faith
We all share one destiny
To run this human race

Chorus:
We all must stop, this hatred and division
Listen with your heart, and your eyes might see
We all have a choice
It’s a question of decision
Actions speak louder, louder in one voice

Bridge:
The path of most resistance is the path that we most fear
And though we claim our innocence, it’s fear that keeps us here

Chorus:
We all must stop, this hatred and division
Listen with your heart, and your eyes might see
We all have a choice
It’s a question of decision
Truth speaks louder, louder in one voice
Actions speak louder, louder in one voice
Love speaks louder, louder in one voice
Louder, louder
Actions speak louder
Love speaks louder
We all speak louder, louder in one voice
